Hello. Thank you once again for joining us.
Tuesday’s Screening:
Confess, Fletch, Greg Mottola, 2022, 108m
7pm, 12 December, at The Elizabeth Picture Theatre
The roguishly charming and endlessly troublesome Fletch (Jon Hamm in his most apt role since Mad Men) becomes the prime suspect in a murder case while searching for a stolen art collection. The only way to prove his innocence? Find out which of the long list of suspects is the culprit—from the eccentric art dealer and a missing playboy to a crazy neighbour and Fletch’s Italian girlfriend. Crime, in fact, has never been this disorganised.
An adaptation of ‘70s stoner beach noir, a rare studio comedy, and a showcase for Jon Hamm and his personification of male privilege, blithe good looks, and perfect timing. Our summer Christmas screening.
“It’s difficult to remember a recent American comedy with so many strong supporting performances, much less one that spins them around a headliner who’s as nonchalantly magnetic as Hamm.” The Daily Beast
